Crowdberry, the biggest crowd-investment platform in Slovakia, has announced today its long-expected expansion into the Czech Republic. This makes Crowdberry the first crowd-investment platform to operate in both, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. David Jelen was appointed as a partner. He will oversee cooperation with Czech firms looking for investments, and will serve as a point of contact for potential Czech and Slovak investors.
Crowdberry enables private investors to invest in companies in exchange for an ownership stake, giving them an opportunity to participate on creating a successful future for Czech and Slovak business ventures. As of today, Crowdberry has so far helped four companies raise investments totalling 2.4 million euro.
“David is a great asset for our management team, especially thanks to his 15-year experience in real estate business, investments and corporate financial management. In addition to overseeing Crowdberry’s activities in the Czech Republic, he will serve as a key partner supporting companies looking for growth capital within the Czech Republic or Slovakia. Aside from start-ups, our investors can also invest in small and medium-sized companies that are well established and profitable. Our first achievement in this category is a successful investment in an innovative live-marketing agency Creative Pro, operating in the Czech and Slovak markets eyeing further geographic expansion. From among Czech companies, start-up AquaQube will be the first to be presented to our investors,” says Daniel Gašpar, Crowdberry managing partner.
“What impressed me with Crowdberry was the fact that although it is a company with a start-up culture, its whole team is built on managers with considerable experience from foreign investment funds and international banks. Coupled with an emphasis on the quality of investment opportunities, this gives both, companies and investors a long-term certainty of a solid partnership. Personally, I was convinced by an open and transparent approach with strong values that are not always present in the local investment environment,” explains David Jelen, Crowdberry partner for the Czech Republic.
David began his career in 2001 in a consulting firm TMF Group where he gradually worked his way up, eventually becoming Deputy Managing Director responsible for providing accounting services. In Flow East and P3 Logistic Parks he worked mainly in the real estate business, gaining experience in management, acquisitions and sales. In 2013 he founded ProFid, a company which provides services in comprehensive financial management.
“Crowdberry is an ambitious project which transforms the traditional financing and investments. It facilitates a creation of an eco-system of companies and private investors based on a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship. In this way, investors have an option to appreciate their finances while helping to build Czech and Slovak firms. On the other hand, these firms acquire not only funds, but also the knowledge and networks of their investors, who can actively participate on improving the business operations and growing the company’s bottom line. In comparison to the other investment mechanisms, crowd-investing enables investors to contribute towards the success of their own investments,” adds David Jelen.
