Prague, 19 January 2018 – The first Czech-Slovak crowd-investing marketplace Crowdberry that connects dynamic businesses with private investors has joined forces with a strategic investor, Peter Bečár. The Slovak-born entrepreneur living in Prague had been a member of the executive board at the leading European developer P3 Logistic Parks. Over the last few years, he has taken a private interest in supporting innovative tech companies. Embracing the opportunity to participate in such companies, he joined the Crowdberry marketplace in two investment campaigns.
"At Crowdberry, we focus on creating a marketplace to connect smart capital with growing businesses and enable key investors to provide not only financial investments but open their network, experience and know-how. With our new smart investor and partner coming out of our client base, Crowdberry is poised for further development and continuous improvement of its platform. Given Peter's vast experience with building and managing international businesses, real estate, investments and modern technologies, our partnership with him will be immensely beneficial for both our investors and the companies raising capital on our platform." Daniel Gašpar, Managing Partner at Crowdberry, said today.
Crowdberry, established in 2015 in Bratislava, Slovakia, provides a marketplace for private investors to participate in local businesses and become shareholders, thus enabling them to participate in the businesses' value directly. Through a combination of an online platform and a team of mature professionals, Crowdberry has created a high-quality and independent online marketplace for start-up companies, small and mid-sized enterprises and real estate projects in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Tatra banka Private Banking is a partner of Crowdberry in Slovakia.
"Throughout my entire professional career, I have collaborated with many international companies and businesses mainly from the segment of small and medium-sized enterprises. I have contributed to their growth not just in Slovakia, but throughout the Central and Eastern Europe region. In that respect, my interests are no different from Crowdberry's. It is an investment marketplace that supports innovative, yet mature, ideas put forward by talented and experienced entrepreneurs from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. I have used Crowdberry myself to invest in Ecocapsule, a globally recognised start-up company, and CreativePro, a profitable, Central and Eastern Europe market-leading live event agency. Crowdberry brought me the opportunity to get in touch with founders and other investors, delivered professional investment support, backed by the internationally experienced team. It has been an inspirational experience, and I am convinced that the platform will continue to promote better conditions for entrepreneurship and support successful ventures with a potential to grow," said Peter Bečár.
Last year, Crowdberry closed five investments with a total funding volume of approx. EUR 3.5m. These included the globally-renowned Ecocapsule or the "booking.com for yachts" Boataround.com. All companies that found new investors through Crowdberry manifested strong growth in 2017 and increased their value significantly. In June 2017, Crowdberry announced its entry into the Czech market and an expansion of its funding scope from promising start-ups to established small and medium-sized businesses and selected real estate development projects. Over the course of January and February 2018, the company plans to open gates of their new premises included "investment cafés" in Prague and Bratislava that will become a meeting point as well as event venues for Crowdberry investors and business owners respectively.
